Hi, We need copy for a poster being created that will be sent with the film school mailers. We want it to be short and sweet, get people's attention and tell them where to find more info. Celebrity judges and great prizes are key! Saying celebrity vs. Hollywood b/c these are primarily going to be used Internationally. I am going to send the poster to the LatAm agency and the European agencies to print in their respective countries to hopefully save on printing/shipping costs. Would be great if we can get this w/o 1/3/12. Thanks.

A couple of questions here: • Will the copy be localized? Just wondering if I can use Lights! Camera! Awesome! or if I should avoid that here. • Do we want this to be different from the Web copy? Anything specific we want to say?

Here's what I'm thinking. Let me know if this works: [HEADLINE] Lights! Camera! Awesome! [ALT HEADLINE] Film Your Love of Firefox [SUBHEAD] Mozilla presents Firefox Flicks A global video contest to tell our story [COPY] As a non-profit, Firefox is the only browser that puts you first. Now we want to put you in the director’s chair to help spread our message. You could win some amazing prizes and your submission will be seen by celebrity judges. Thanks Matej. The poster will be localized. Thanks for both headline options. Copy is great. Just wanted it to be enough to get people interested.

Hey guys, just my 2 cents: "film your love of Firefox" sounds a little weird to me :) But if Kristin is okay with it, then lets move forward. Kristin, if copy is approved, can we close this bug?

(In reply to Tara (musingt) from comment #5) > Hey guys, just my 2 cents: "film your love of Firefox" sounds a little > weird to me :) But if Kristin is okay with it, then lets move forward. > Kristin, if copy is approved, can we close this bug? That was the line Pascal liked for l10n purposes, which is why I included it here. If this will appear in English, we should use Lights! Camera! Awesome!, but for languages where that will be a problem to translate, I wanted to be consistent with our other materials.

Hi Kristin! Yes I remember you of course! Nice to be working with you too! :) Thanks Matej for the copy. A couple of questions on my end: I am assuming that the different locales will be printing these out remotely (like from a desktop printing place ala Kinkos) so does that mean we should keep this at letter or tabloid for the US version, and say A5 for the EU versions? Also--just an FYI, if we are not offset printing this, I would recommend not doing a full bleed on all sides which would necessitate cropping which adds cost. Let me know. :) ---rhonda

I also posted this on the poster bug: Yes, the different locales will be printing these. They will translate and print. So, you're assumption ala Kinkos is likely correct. lets do tabloid size for the US. And not doing full bleed on all sides is fine. Re: Comment #5. Thanks for your response Matej. Yes, when printing in English we will use Lights! Camera! Awesome! We will only use the other line for l10n.

Hey guys-- here is a proof of the poster (US version). This is 11 x 17" sized, with a 1/2" border on all sides which will work well for copying in US sizes. I thought we would approve this version, and then I could make this into a European A4 size for localization. Also, BTW, this is in Illustrator, so the various locales will need to have Illustrator in order to localize it.

Looks great, just two comments from me. I don't think we need to repeat "Mozilla presents Firefox Flicks" twice. I would just leave it in the stylized font and wordmark and take out the other version. I also feel like "Mozilla presents" at the top is more associated with the headline than the name of the contest. Is there any way that could come down closer to "Firefox Flicks?" What do you think?

Here are those changes. Let me know if this is approved and if so, if you would like me to make an EU A5 version. :) --rhonda

Rhonda, would you mind sending the print-ready files directly to Karen please? not sure why the links aren't working :(

Hey guys-- John Slater was having some issues with his server that these are stored on, and looks like he had to delete some files, hence the lost link. I will try and make a new folder on this server to upload all the files again, as they are too large to try and send over email. Stay tuned. :) --rhonda

Hi Rhonda, Two things. All of the agencies cannot access the files at the links above. I just tried and they aren't working. Hmm, is there another place we can put these? They are too big to send over email. Also, Asia is requesting the file be created in CS4 as they cannot open the file in CS5. Thanks, Kristin

hey Kristin-- Yes, John had to remove the files from his server, so I think they were wiped out at that time. I'll move them to my server and repost them for you. They will be posted there indefinitely, so no worries. I'll save China's down to CS4. :) --rhonda

Huh. I dont know why it wont--I just tried it and it worked ok, brought up the dialogue box for the passwords, etc. The only other thing I can do is give you the FTP info, and you can use an FTP client like Fetch to get them off of the server that way. Here is that info: Host: quasor.lunarpages.com User: tuffgu2 Password: Triangle2 Here is the folder path: public ftp/mozilla/Firefox_Flix_Posters

This is the bug that just won't die. Rhonda, the printer in LA is asking for CMYK file. Can we get this. If you upload it to your site I can have the LA crew pull it down. Thanks a ton!
Comment 31•13 years ago

||
Hey Kristin-- Hmm. By virtue of it being a PDF it should be CMYK print ready, but just in case, I resaved it and reposted it here: ftp://quasor.lunarpages.com/public_ftp/mozilla/Firefox_Flix_Posters/Print_PDF/flicks-poster-11x17.pdf User: tuffgu2 Password: Triangle2 Let me know if they want something other than a PDF, but that SHOULD work! :) --rhonda
